Bio

Arianwen Herbert is a freelance video reporter for New Scientist. She is a PhD student in Interdisciplinary Bioscience at the University of Oxford, working in the Earth Sciences and Biology departments. She holds an MBio in Biochemistry from the University of Warwick. 

Her doctoral research focuses on the evolution and adaptation of marine microorganisms to our changing world, integrating lab and field-based approaches to investigate the biochemical and physiological processes underlying nutrient use and carbon fixation. 

Arianwen reports on a wide range of topics including oceanography, environmental science, carbon cycles, biodiversity and biology, and is often at sea on research expeditions.
