Job Details
Immunocore (NASDAQ: IMCR) is a pioneering, commercial-stage T cell receptor biotechnology company whose purpose is to develop and commercialize a new generation of transformative medicines which address unmet patient needs in oncology, infectious diseases and autoimmune disease. Our leaders in R&D are internationally recognised as some of the biotech industry's most successful drug developers. We are creating not just an environment where great minds can interact but an innovation powerhouse answering the big questions.
Focused on delivering first-in-class biological therapies to patients, we have developed a highly innovative soluble TCR platform. Our ImmTAX molecules underpin a new generation of precision engineered drugs that harness the immune system to treat a broad spectrum of diseases with high unmet medical need, including oncology, infectious diseases and autoimmune diseases.
We strive to create a diverse and inclusive workplace, while seeking talented individuals to work with us across the many functions that will allow us to deliver new medicines to transform the lives of patients. You will work with outstanding people who together pioneer the research, development and commercialization of bi-specific TCR therapies. We aim to create an environment where individual contributions and initiatives can be maximized, while fostering a culture of collaboration, based on respect and integrity. We want each individual employee to own their career, as part of high-performing teams, and in the context of on-the-job and formal continuous development and training, as well as constructive feedback. We always strive to identify ways to improve what we do and how we do it, by asking questions, voicing opinions, exploring various approaches and staying connected with healthcare professionals, patients, academia and other key partners.
We are seeking an experienced bioinformatician to work closely with Research and Bioinformatics/Data Science teams to maximise our extensive and growing biologics discovery datasets to support and accelerate data driven drug design. The ideal candidate will be a driven, curious and collaborative scientist passionate about using data to uncover biological insights and contribute to drug discovery programmes. As a part of the Protein Engineering department, senior bioinformatician will collaborate with automation, data capture, NGS and Machine Learning scientists, as well as other bioinformaticians and software developers.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
* Work in interdisciplinary teams across protein engineering and bioinformatics to develop and integrate data science approaches into TCR and antibody discovery and optimisation.
* Analyse, manage and organise datasets generated across a protein engineering campaign, including high-throughput screening and immune repertoire sequencing datasets.
* Work closely with experimental biologists to design and automate the capture, organisation, and analysis of experimental data for biologics drug discovery.
* Clearly document code and communicate outcomes effectively internally and externally.
EXPERIENCE AND KNOWLEDGE
Essential
* Experience with NGS, bioinformatics sequence analysis and alignment tools
* Good working knowledge of R and Python, with fluency in at least one of these coding languages
* Experience in using common data analysis packages and bioinformatics tools
* Experience with Linux environments and version control (git)
* Strong record of scientific publications and/or contribution to bioinformatics tools in relevant subjects
* Demonstrated ability to closely collaborate with experimental scientists
* Pays attention to detail, highly organised
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Desirable
* Experience in bioinformatic analysis of immune repertoire datasets (TCRs and antibodies) and understanding of associated challenges
* Experience with relational databases (e.g. Genedata) and laboratory information management systems (LIMS)
* Experience working with high throughput data and lab automation systems
* Experience working with workflow systems (e.g. Nextflow), cloud-based compute services (e.g. AWS) and containerised applications (e.g. Docker)
* Working knowledge of SQL
* Familiar with a broad range of concepts in molecular biology, biochemistry and structural biology
* Background in T or B cell immunology
EDUCATION & QUALIFICATIONS
* PhD in Computational Biology, Bioinformatics, Immunology, Molecular Biology, or similar discipline and a minimum of 5-8 years of related experience working with genomics data; may include post-doctoral experience.
* Or MSc degree with extensive role-specific equivalent research or industrial experience.
Please include your CV, cover letter, and a link to a representative code repository (e.g. GitHub) in your application.
Company
Immunocore is one of the world’s leading biotechnology companies, with a highly innovative immune-oncology platform technology called ImmTACs.
ImmTACs are a novel class of biologic drugs based on the Company’s proprietary T cell receptor (TCR) technology which have the potential to treat diseases with high unmet medical need including cancer, viral infections and autoimmune diseases.
Immunocore, based on decades of world-leading scientific innovation in the discovery of HLA targets and T cell receptor technology, has a pipeline of wholly-owned and partnered ImmTAC programmes with robust clinical data, validated by collaborations with world-leading pharmaceutical companies.
Immunocore aims to leverage the utility of its platform across a wide range of indications to become a Premier Biotech company and world-leader in its field. Immunocore’s world-leading science and strong IP position has attracted major pharmaceutical companies including Genentech, GlaxoSmithKline, MedImmune, the biologics division of AstraZeneca, via discovery collaborations, as well as a co-discovery and co-development partnership with Lilly.
Founded in 2008 originally out of Oxford University and headquartered outside Oxford, Immunocore now has more than 140 staff. Immunocore is well-funded and owned by a group of long-term private investors.
